FAQ

Can I bring family with me?
Many teachers have asked about the opportunity to have family members join them while on the program. Although this is possible in a sense, we do encourage participants to travel alone in order to allow themselves to fully participate. Not only will the days be taken up with a long itinerary, we also encourage our team to spend time together after class in order to improve the overall experience. You may consider extending the holiday before or after the program and have family join then.

I would prefer to have my own room, is this possible?
Program prices are currently set at twin room share. However, we are able to facilitate requests for private rooms. If this is something you would prefer, feel free to ask one of our team members for more information.

Can I arrive before the set arrival date or leave after the program departure date?
You can arrive as early or leave as late as you would like. Our participants often want to spend extra time in the country or the region. Please feel free to do so. Just be sure to make your team leader aware of your plans.

What sort of support and assistance will I be given on the program?
You will be supported 24/7 by your in country team leader(s) and also our support staff back in Australia. We are here to help if any issues arise during your trip. It is a requirement that all participants take out an adequate insurance policy for the duration of the trip.

What expenses are tax deductible?
The entire program is designed as a professional development opportunity for practicing teachers, as such, all associated costs are tax deductible. This includes program costs, flights, travel insurance and meals. Please note that souvenirs and some expenses would not be deductible. As always, tax obligations are individual and you are encouraged to seek independent financial advice.

What plans are in place in case of an unexpected emergency?
Risk assessment has been completed and individualised for each program. It has been constructed with destination specific guidelines and has been created with a variety of stakeholders, including an international risk assessment team in coordination with our in-country partners. The program coordinator goes over each risk assessment with the team leader(s) prior to travel to ensure full comprehension and compliance. A list of diverse possible scenarios have been planned for should they arise.

Do I need to have experience working in a role as a leader?
The program is designed to provide initial experience in leadership roles or help you build on as little or as much experience as you might have. Each teacher is placed in a local school and teaching team dependent on experience and qualifications. This way we make sure each teacher gets the most out of the experience and feels comfortable in their role.

What if I do not participate in the cultural activities?

The extra excursion and activities are built into the program and are a great way of getting to experience the local culture and natural beauty. This also is a great way to bond as a team  and celebrate a successful program together. As the  activities are chosen to help participants gain an insight into the culture of the destination, this is seen as an important part in being able to work and support locals within the country. As such it is highly encouraged that you join the activities. However, we are aware that certain dates and events are unavoidable and so if you cannot attend please let your team leader know.
