Inside Japan’s classrooms and culture

Spend eight days exploring Japan through the eyes of an educator, combining school visits and professional exchange with the culture, traditions and energy of Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. Observe Japanese classrooms, connect with local educators and gain insight into one of the world’s most fascinating education systems, while travelling by bullet train and experiencing Japan’s historic sites, local traditions and contemporary life.

Itinerary

8 days, day by day

Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to your hotel on the scheduled program arrival day. Meet the group over a welcome dinner and orientation as the Japan experience begins.

Visit a Tokyo school for classroom observation, engagement with local educators and an insight into everyday school life in Japan. Later, explore Tokyo highlights including Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple.

Enjoy time in Tokyo before travelling to the Kansai region aboard Japan’s iconic Shinkansen bullet train. Settle into your accommodation and experience a different side of urban Japan.

Visit a local elementary or junior high school, engage with educators and observe Japanese teaching, learning and student life. Continue the professional learning experience through discussion, reflection or a planned cultural activity.

Spend the day discovering Kyoto and its rich cultural traditions, combining historic sites with carefully selected Japanese cultural experiences.

Travel to historic Nara to visit Todai-ji Temple and Nara Deer Park, with time to explore one of Japan’s ancient capitals and reflect on the professional and cultural experiences of the program.

Enjoy further time in Kyoto and the Kansai region before returning to Tokyo. Conclude the program with the group over a farewell dinner and reflect on the educational and cultural insights gained throughout the week.

After breakfast, conclude the program with private airport transfers available for participants departing on the scheduled program departure date.
