Employment

When you graduate from our Global TESOL course, you join our Global Network of providers. This helps us to ensure that we are able to offer you a quality, internationally recognised courses and an efficient transition into job placement.

The range of teaching options and locations for a Global TESOL graduate are endless, and we are here to support you! During the In-Class Foundation course, we prepare you with our step-by-step Employment Handbook, which covers indicative teaching salaries and conditions over a wide range of countries, as well as preparation for your trip, resume writing tips, money, health and how to deal with culture shock. After your course has been completed, you are given free access to our Online Job Bank; thousands of reputable contacts with hundreds of jobs available worldwide.

Typically, Global TESOL graduates can earn an average of $4,000 monthly in many countries, depending on your level of TESOL qualification and other credentials. You do not need to be a native English speaker!* Many choose to double their income by working extra hours outside of the normal work week as private tutors or by teaching in specialised fields. Contracts usually range from one to two years, and can include paid airfare and accommodation, though this depends on your choice of destination.

Having a university degree is not essential to teaching overseas, however if you do have a degree, you are likely to find employment easier in the following countries:

  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Thailand
  • Italy
  • Germany
  • Brunei (with extensive teaching experience)
  • Many more!

If you do not have a degree or other formal qualification, don’t let that stop you! You can still find plenty of teaching work in:

  • Vietnam
  • China
  • South America
  • Africa
  • Indonesia
  • Europe

European countries generally prefer that you have an EU passport to teach, however this is not always the case. Middle Eastern countries are the best for earning money overseas; salaries can range from $60,000 upwards per year. Competition is high in both of these regions and teaching experience is generally essential.

Latin American countries do not require experience and there are plenty of teaching jobs available, with living expenses typically low comparatively. There is also plenty of opportunity to travel around to countries in the same region.

Most developed Asian countries (China, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, etc.) are in desperate need for TESOL teachers and will use many incentives to attract graduates, including airfare subsidies, accommodation and language lessons. Other Asian countries will sometimes subsidise airfares/living costs and it is not essential for you to have a bachelor’s degree. Remember, the most important thing you will gain out of this job is experience!

* Note: Your English must be of a fluent standard to complete this course
