Adolescents

Adolescents are becoming an increasingly large part of Teaching a classroom of teenagers requires using the combination of creativity, flexibility and explicit structure. This specialisation aims to involve and motivate your students to make your TESOL classes interesting and successful.

Course content includes cultural differences of adolescent students, creating a motivating and supportive classroom, utilising all skills and learning styles, resources and conflict resolution.

Adults

Adults are learners with unique and often diverse needs, all with individual learning styles and requirements. The most important aspect to note with adult English language learners is that they are choosing to be taught, therefore demanding quality and speed from their teachers. Adults need to be able to effectively communicate thoughts, feelings, needs and important information.

Course content includes lesson planning, an overview of adult education, activities and group work, student levels and using the communicative approach.

Business English

With English becoming the global language of communication throughout the business world, this specialisation will give you the key to the widest array of employment opportunities in the TESOL field. Your students will already be highly motivated and willing to learn as the course can provide numerous options and advantages for them within their careers.

Course content includes methods and approaches to teaching business English, adapting business materials and developing business courses.

Children

This is the most fun you will ever have in a TESOL classroom – if you are prepared! Children are full of energy and need to be kept busy. Instead of focusing on passing or failing, children need to be rewarded for improvement, and you will draw on your creativity to design exciting activities and materials to capture their attention and help them develop. 

Course content includes defining the verbal and physical English milestones of children, the theory of language acquisition, using games in the classroom, how to use colouring effectively and how to use songs in the classroom.

Computer English (CALL)

To make your classroom more interactive and motivating, many TESOL teachers are using computers and the Internet as a fun an effective resource in English language learning. Computers add an interesting component to your curriculum, while also providing necessary skills to students in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

Course content includes implementing computers into the classroom, lesson planning, teaching computer vocabulary, online tutorials and developing activities for all levels.

Grammar

By learning the Grammar specialisation, you will perfect the skills that form the basis of every TESOL class you will teach, and improve your overall verbal communication effectiveness. Teachers around the globe have found great success in teaching grammar by implementing the methods taught in this course.

Course content includes parts of speech and self-assessment exercises, past, present and future verbs, the theory of grammar acquisition, implicit vs. explicit grammar and grammar games.

Legal English

Law students and foreign business leaders worldwide are filling up classrooms, looking for teachers who specialise in legal terminology, concepts and attitudes. Working with legal issues demands special skills, knowledge and experience. Students are highly motivated since the course has clear advantages for them personally or within their company.

Course content includes target students, methods and approaches to teaching legal English, legal English terminology, examination and evaluation of legal case studies and developing legal English materials.

Medical English

Nurses, doctors and other medical professionals must be proficient in medical terminology, procedures and concepts in order to work in an English-speaking country, or to advance in their present position at home. This course will ensure that you success even if you do not come from a medical background!

Course content includes medical English terminology, developing medical English materials, medical vocabulary and teaching medical English terminology acquisition skills.

TESOL Teaching Practicum

TOEFL

Passing the TOEFL test is an essential pre-requisite for international students who wish to study in a North American university, or for employees who are striving for a career enhancements in countries such as Japan and Korea. This comprehensive course has been designed to provide you with a review of the four language skills, and applies them to the three kinds of TOEFL exams. Your skills will be in demand for some of the highest paid tutoring positions!

Course content includes preparing to teach TOEFL content, how to use diagnostic exams, the three parts of each of the three types of TOEFL tests, creating and using course syllabus and error recognition.

Tourism English
